Art Loan FAQ
Can I borrow against my art without selling it?
Yes. Your artwork serves as collateral for a loan of $25,000 to $2 million, with terms from 1 to 36 months. You keep ownership, and the work is returned when the loan is repaid.
How much can I borrow against artwork?
Loan-to-value typically ranges from 25% to 75% of the appraised fair market value, depending on the artist, medium, provenance and current market liquidity. Works by artists with deep auction records support a higher figure.
How long does the process take?
Timing depends on the work and its documentation. Well-documented works by established artists can move quickly. Where an independent appraisal is required, we arrange it, billed at cost.
What happens to my artwork during the loan?
Your work is moved by white-glove art handlers and stored in a fine-art storage facility. It is insured at full replacement value from the moment it leaves your possession.
Do you check my credit?
No. The decision is based on the artwork, not your credit history or income.
Is the loan non-recourse?
Non-recourse terms are available on qualifying loans, meaning the artwork is the lender’s only remedy. Your term sheet states plainly whether your loan is non-recourse.
Can I repay early?
Yes. Generally, there is no prepayment penalty. Repay at any time and your artwork is returned or stored with its record intact, ready if you want to borrow again.
